Overview:

Sunny Skies Airline is a kid-friendly airline aimed at fostering a stress-free travel environment for families. As the lead designer, I was responsible for creating a comprehensive brand identity that appeals to both children and adults, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable travel experience for families.

Goals and Objectives:

  • Goal: Develop a kid-friendly brand identity for Sunny Skies Airline.

  • Objective: Create a cohesive and appealing visual identity, including logo, branded materials, and a user-friendly app to enhance the travel experience for families.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Role: Lead Designer

  • Responsibilities: Conducting a business audit, SWOT analysis, competitor research, developing the brand identity, creating mockups of various branded items, and designing advertisements for social media.

 

Process and Workflow:

  • Research and Discovery:

    • Conducted a thorough business audit and SWOT analysis to understand the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats associated with Sunny Skies Airline.

    • Performed competitor research to identify key differentiators and opportunities for creating a unique and appealing brand identity.

  • Concept Development:

    • Brainstormed and developed initial concepts for the logo and brand identity.

    • Created mood boards and sketches to visualize the brand’s direction.

  • Design Process:

    • Designed the logo and visual identity, ensuring it was colorful, friendly, and appealing to children while maintaining a professional look for parents.

    • Developed mockups of the plane, branded sippy cups, branded uniforms, and an app for ticket access and airport navigation.

    • Designed a map to help families easily find their gate in the airport.

    • Created advertisements for social media to promote the brand and its family-friendly features.

  • Challenges and Solutions:

    • Ensured the brand appealed to both children and adults by balancing playful elements with a professional aesthetic.

    • Addressed the need for practical and functional designs for items such as uniforms and the app.

    • Incorporated feedback from potential users to refine the designs and ensure they met the needs of traveling families.
